Overview
A Collection of Beatles Oldies brought the British compilation into the Australian catalogue on 16 May 1968. Both mono and stereo editions used British-supplied metal parts, continuing the manufacturing approach then used for the principal albums by The Beatles.

Among its early stereo labels, surviving evidence suggests that the yellow-and-black variation is more common than the banner design.

The sleeve contains another small departure from contemporary practice. EMI (Australia) reverted to an earlier version of its logo in the rear-cover footer, although the reason remains unexplained.

The compilation retained a sufficiently long catalogue life to receive a new budget identity in 1985, when EMI (Australia) reissued it on Axis Records.
