Initial copies of The Beatles Tapes contained an 8-page stapled booklet affixed to the inner sleeve. On later copies the booklet was replaced with two separate 4-page photo inserts – one in each LP pocket. Although the pictures were the same, the page order was altered to the following:

Insert 1: pages 1, 2, 7, 8

Insert 2: pages 3, 4, 5, 6

Page 1 of each insert had the number 2679 040/1 or 2679 040/2 printed in the top right hand corner respectively.
