GENERAL ALBUM INFORMATION
Mastered locally from production master tapes sent over by EMI UK (stored as PARLO 454/455). EMI (Australia) received tapes from both EMI UK and Capitol US but used the UK set (both sets were stored with the same library numbers). By this time it was common for EMI (Australia) to receive tapes from both sources.
Gatefold sleeve - mouseover the above sleeve image to see the inner gatefold. Picture labels similar to European version of the album.
Copies included a double-sided, one page insert promoting the Beatles LP back-catalogue. The insert was a localised version of the inner sleeve produced for the UK issue. See insert page for more details.
The album spent 12 weeks on the charts, reaching #12.
The album was reissued on LP and cassette through EMI's budget Axis Records label in January 1990, intriguely some 18 months after origination (the term given when a title's paperwork is first created). No reason for the delay is documented, although there is anecdotal evidence that EMI (Australia) had contemplated releasing the album on CD but were told 'no'. The album was recut for this release and the sleeve was no longer a gatefold—please see the album's Axis label page for sleeve image—which is largely no more than the original content 'shifted down' to provide space for a grey Axis banner. It also has a slightly 'cooler' hue.
Of note is that the local copy text on both the original release and reissue titled the album as The Beatles At Hollywood Bowl. This is evident on the spine of the original release, all cassette copies, and labels on the reissue.
