SLEEVE INFORMATION
EMI (Australia) received both mothers and tapes (filed as PARLO 283-286) for this release. It, along with The Beatles 1967-1970, were the last new Beatles albums to be pressed from UK metal parts, with EMI (Australia) preferring to master future releases from tape.

The Australian release is essentially a clone of the UK release, albeit with localised catalogue number and label details. Mouseover the above sleeve image to see the inner gatefold.

The album spent 10 weeks on the charts, reaching #18.

The World Record Club released the album to its members in November 1980, with the number R 90967 (see zoomable image, below).

Anecdotal evidence suggests that in September 1988, Leon Zervis transferred the analogue tapes to digital and remastered both this album and The Beatles 1967-1970 direct to copper, similar to the process that Allan Parsons undertook the previous year with The Beatles and Yellow Submarine (please visit "The Beatles" production master tape page for more information). To date, no evidence of this remaster has been identified on commercial pressings, although EMI (Australia) did reissue both albums on cassette format on 24 October 1988. The webmaster welcomes contact from anyone who believes they have one of these seemingly very elusive pressings!

Unlike some overseas countries including the UK and USA, EMI (Australia) never released this album on coloured vinyl.
