In service between 1969 and 1982, the ubiquitous (and very 'loud') orange 'EMI 1-Box' design is perhaps the label that is most identified with Australian Beatles LP's. Although similar to the layout of the UK 'EMI 1-box' labels, the prominent placement of STEREO at the top of the label, and of course the orange-hued base, all contribute to an altogether unique label style for Australian Beatles albums.

Three styles of orange EMI 1-Box label were used between 1969 and 1982; these styles can be categorised as:

1) Style 'A' - Top STEREO, where "STEREO" appears at the very top of the label, above the boxed Parlophone logo

2) Style 'B' - Side STEREO, where "STEREO" appears to the right of the spindle-hole, above the PCSO catalogue number

3) Style 'C' - No STEREO, where "STEREO" is absent from the label

Styles 'B' and 'C' were introduced in October 1978 and early 1979 respectively. Not all albums were released in all styles (see illustrated list, below).
